Are you Gearing Up for the Season?
As a hunter, there is so much to get excited about in the months of July and August. The season is just around the corner. Velvet bucks are showing themselves in the evening food plots, the elk are days away from the rut, and for many, its time to gear up with the latest and greatest video equipment to film your hunts. Statistsics show that over 60% of hunters film their hunt in some form or fashion these days. Whether or not that is truly accurate, I don’t know. But I do know, in our world it seems “everyone” does. We are asked for recommendations on a daily basis about camera gear, editing software, etc for producing quality hunting videos/films. Today, I aim to talk in about what you should be looking for and from whom you should be buying.

What do you need?
We see so many people over spend on gear for filming hunts (cameras more specifically). In many instances, it’s because they fell for some marketing campaign or googled it and found what they thought was a great deal. Most often it is all about asking the right people. People you can trust that will help you find what you need for what you are doing within your budget. “Buying once” in my opinion is super important in purchasing electronics as they are changing so quickly and the retention of resale value is very tough these days. The bullet points for what you “need” are; Camera (camcorder or DSLR), media (sd cards), extra batteries & chargers, a good support system (tripod, Tree arm, etc), and good audio (shotgun mic, wireless mic). The remainder can be added to your wish list and purchased when the wallet allows.
Where to look?
Often looking at packages designed for hunters is a great way to get all the items you need. Now this may sound like a sales pitch to try to send you to a specific place to buy this gear….and it is….LOL. Why, because I know that the web can be a very misleading place to buy unless you are already comfortable in what you need. Finding someone in sales that you can trust, is not a simple task either. It can be challenging, to find out what you really need and to not get suckered into something just so a company could move it off the shelf. So keep reading to find out who to call and why we trust in them so much.

Who to buy from?
Bedford Outdoors ( www.bedfordoutdoors.com ) is a family owned company with 7 store locations and a growing online business. Most importantly, they care about and want to help hunters capture these moments on film and in photos. We have personally worked with this company for 3 years now. We have helped them design packages so that you can find the camera that fits your budget. Packages that also identify the accessories you need to match the camera you are purchasing. These packages are of course not the only way to go about gearing up with Bedfords.
Why?
This however, is probably the #1 reason why you should call them and trust in them to help you out. You have 2 gentlemen there, that are your personal camera gear consultants and salesmen. Individuals that have agreed to give you their cell phone numbers so that you can reach them virtually any day of the week, anytime. These guys specifically and Bedfords as a company, feel like customer service to you is not something they “do”. It is something that is a part of the business they have created in their journey to become #1 in Outdoor Video sales. Something they know will set them apart from any other place out there.
